Mamachka is the dream of Sofia Howard, who at a young age had a passion for all things beautiful and creative.  Sofia has collected experience and personal interests that have shaped her into the multi faceted creative person that she is today. 

Mamachka is a lifestyle blog and multi-service shop.  The word Mamachka is an Eastern European term for the affectionate way of saying mother.  A Mamachka is beloved.  Mamachka blog & shop is where we share the beauty and love of motherhood, family, travel, and every day life through words, pictures, flowers, and all the beautiful and whimsical things that make your house a home.

A little bit about Mamachka Sofia of Mamachka Blog & Shop…

Sofia was born in Ukraine and although she grew up living in both the east and west coast, she a California girl at heart.  Sofia is the wife to Mr. Taylor James Howard and Mamachka to her two children.  Sofia and her family started a homestead family farm in 2019 in Paso Robles, CA.   They grow and harvest from an abundant garden and orchards, keep animals, host guests in their farm stay vacation rentals on their property, and homeschool their children on the farm.

Sofia has always been drawn to arts and crafting.  She frequently would start many different projects at a time and yearned to learn more and more on how to create all sorts of things that she was inspired by.  This natural curiosity lead her to several life changing jobs throughout her life.

One of Sofia's first jobs was at a flower shop in her hometown of huntington beach.  Armed with hands on experience and years of mentoring, at twenty,  she started her own freelance wedding flower business which specialized in client tailored wedding day flowers.  Sofia now specializes in crafting whimsical and elegant weddings and workshops.  Each event is created with love and care to ensure that the client’s vision comes to life.  Sofia is a full service florist with specialization in weddings, special events and workshops and seasonal arrangements.

 While practicing floral design is the art form that Sofia greatly enjoys, practicing and teaching Pilates and Barre classes is another important component to her inspiration. Movement is an art that Sofia enjoys to practice with her mind and body.  Sofia has been a student and teacher for many years, graduating from her first certification program in 2011.  She teaches many methods of movement. Her passion is teaching mat and reformer Pilates and barre classes, but she is also certified as a yoga teacher. She enjoys teaching vinyasa flow style classes, which is a flowing choreographed class that is both invigorating for the body as it is the mind, but she is also trained and teaches hot yoga, yoga pilates, yoga sculpt, and yin yoga.  Sofia has completed the yoga Tune up training as well as yoga therapy ball training. Sofia loves the benefits that movement has for every BODY and has practiced and taught through many stages of her life, including during and post pregnancy.  Sofia works as a freelance instructor specializing in studio setting group lessons, private lessons, corporate classes, and local & world wide yoga retreats.   Please Email us for questions, request a quote, or book a retreat.

Diving into the study of herbalism brought her love of flowers and plants into a deeper focus on her homestead. She grows herbs and flowers and creates home remedies that she uses with her family and teaches her children and her homeschool co op students. She also sells her farm grown remedies and elderberry kits in her shop. Sofia’s inspiration of nature and her love of homeschooling, influenced her to write and publish a series of herbal unit studies which help to promote the love of family-style learning. Her unit studies are now available to purchase as digital downloads in her shop.

Sofia has always been a connector and thrives when she has the chance to connect with other people.  Mamachka blog is the conduit for just that.  Mamachka blog is a lifestyle and creative blog that shares inspiration from everything from homeschool inspiration, floral creations, to the mindfulness of movement and beyond to the day to day tid bits of motherhood and all the beauty in everyday life.
